What it actually is
AICAR activates AMPK, the cellular “low-energy” switch that, when flipped, tells cells to burn fuel, make more mitochondria and boost endurance — much of what exercise does.
That earned it the nickname “exercise mimetic.” It’s famous in research (and infamous in anti-doping) for boosting endurance in animals without training.
How it’s thought to work

- Glucose uptake — improves how cells take up and use glucose.

Injection & handling
SubQ/IV in the rare cases it’s used — but the community view is it’s impractical: the ‘effective’ dose is grams/day (cost-prohibitive), and the 10–50 mg that 50 mg vials allow does little. Not a practical protocol.
